Set among 400 years of maritime history, The Historic Dockyard Chatham provides an iconic backdrop with a variety of unique venue hire spaces. Complete with spectacular, breath-taking architecture, the flexible spaces can be transformed for all occasions, ranging from large gala dinners and award ceremonies to intimate private dining, bespoke product launches and small business meetings.

By hosting an event at the Dockyard you are also helping towards the preservation of the 80-acre historic estate for the benefit of visitors now and in the future.

  • Fitted Rigging House:

    The Fitted Rigging House comprises of two adjacent meeting rooms, which can be hired individually or together if a breakout space is required.

    Fitted with the latest technology, you can present easily with our moveable screens and even connect with those joining your meeting virtually using our video conferencing kit.

    Perfect for board meetings, training and more!

    Room hire starts from just £300 + VAT and is available with or without catering too!

  • Commissioner’s House:

    Built in 1704 for Captain George St. Lo, this grand mansion is the oldest intact naval building in Great Britain. The Resident Commissioner was an important personage with direct responsibility for running the Dockyard. His house stands at the centre of the site and today provides impressive spaces for private hire which can be completely tailored for your event. Commissioner’s House also has a spacious walled garden, with an excellent view of Rochester, and a private bar.

    The venue comprises of several rooms to suit all kinds of events, from day meetings to team building, product launches to private corporate dining.Hire the whole space for an evening event or just one room for a smaller more intimate option. Venue hire in this fantastic venue is always exclusive.

  • The Ballroom: (in Commissioner’s House):

    The Ballroom: (in Commissioner’s House):Flooded with natural daylight, Commissioner’s House Ballroom is an ideal room for corporate away days, training sessions and product launches!

    Located on the ground floor, it provides easy access for all delegates and gives you the chance to enjoy the patio and gardens also.

    Suitable for venue hire + catering, Day Delegate Packages and corporate day or evening dining.

  • The Marquee: (in Commissioner’s House):

    The Marquee is a fantastic feature of Commissioner’s House, allowing more room for larger events.

    Perhaps you need to accommodate your full team for a meeting or would like to host an exhibition?

    This space works perfectly as your main meeting room, utilizing other rooms within the venue for breakout spaces.

    Delegates can easily roam into the stunning gardens during their breaks too!

  • The Sunne Room (in Commissioner’s House)

    With views overlooking Commissioner’s House gardens and the River Medway, the Sunne Room is located on the first floor and provides a warm and welcoming space.

    This traditional Georgian style room is ideal for board meetings, breakfast meetings, team building and private dining events and gives easy access to additional breakout spaces on the same floor.

    Hire of any room within Commissioner’s House includes access to the patio and stunning landscaped gardens.

  • The Namur Room:

    Adjacent to our main site entrance, and Mess Deck Restaurant, the Namur Room is a great private hire space, available for both room hire only or with catering included.

    The space is adaptable to suit a variety of event types and includes use of a TV screen and flipchart to make your presentations seamless.

    It is accessible for all and offers parking directly outside.

    Room hire available from £50 + VAT per hour (minimum of 3 hours, depending on requirements)

  • The Royal Dockyard Church

    Built around 1808, the Church was used by Dockyard workers as well as Sailors and Marines that came to the port. Marines would march from the barracks along Dock Road, through the Main Gate all headed by a band. The Marines occupied one side of the galleries and the Sailors the other. Dockyard officers and families, with the workmen of the Dockyard and visitors filled the pews.

    Nowadays, the Royal Dockyard Church is home to a state of the art 200 seated lecture theatre perfect for conferences, previews, training and product launches. Complete with fantastic AV kit and complimentary parking just a 5 minute walk away, this venue offers beautiful architecture in a stunning historic location.

    Opening in September 2023 but the diary is now open for viewings and bookings.
