Penshurst Place is a privately-owned, historic house of Medieval origins, nestled in Tudor gardens, providing a stunning setting for an array of events and celebrations. Located at the heart of the charming village of Penshurst, within the Weald of Kent countryside, it provides a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The venue is only 32 miles from Central London, with easy links to transport hubs in the South East of England.
In a history spanning almost seven centuries, Penshurst Place has been the setting for many a sumptuous event throughout it's history. Kings, Queens, Nobleman, great soldiers and poets have all dined within our walls. The Sidney family have called Penshurst Place home for over 465 years and have hosted guests from all over the world.
Today, it is available for private hire, offering a majestic backdrop for your next event. Our rooms for hire are set within the defended manor house, dating back to 1341, and compromise of the aweinspiring Baron's Hall, the charming Sunderland Room, the cosy Buttery, and the versatile Garden room. The ancient parkland is the perfect setting for various outdoor events, including activity days
We can accommodate up to 200 people
Our spectacular hall can host large gatherings of up to 136 seated or 200 standing, and will surely leave each of your guests in awe. This truly unique space boasts a 60ft high chestnut beamed ceiling, roaring open fire centred in the hall, fully lit candelabra in the arch windows, and historical artefacts for your guests to discover. Between the months of April and October inclusively the hall is open daily to the visiting public between the hours of 11:30am - 3:30pm, so it is available to hire for your evening event |
This charming room is an ideal space for small to medium gatherings, with seating space for up to 100 guests and standing for 140. Entered via an original oak spiral stair case, your guests will be inspired by the number of fine portraiture hanging from the part-panelled, part sandstone walls, and warmed by an open fire place. This room is also perfect for those looking for an event space with a separate break-out space, with the ability to partition the room via our heavy floor-length curtains. |

Ideal for smaller dining parties of up to 30 people, and once the bottle store room of the medieval household, the Buttery is adjacent to the Baron's Hall. Its sandstone walls, hung with rich 17th century tapestries, create a warm and cosy atmosphere, enhanced by an open log fire in the winter. With quick access into our inner courtyard it is equally perfect for warmer days to enjoy a drink, canapes or just a breath of fresh air in your private outside space |
