Mrs Baker's Medway Art Tours
Join the locals - a costumed historian and a modern artist - for the insiders view of the past and vibrant present of the Medway Towns in Kent in south-east England. An internationally certified costumed guide leads as a local historical figure, unpacking the hidden history of the area named for the river which flows through to the sea!
The 15 min tour ends at your secret and surprising, unexpected arts location, where you will participate in an arts and crafts workshop, led by a modern Medway-based artist. You will make a memento, with a nod to the past - Quirky plastic jewellery; A painted pocket handkerchief; Or a Victorian ladies bonnet; Or a hat for a 'jolly jack tar'.
Your costumed guide reveals grit and grandeur, soldiers, sailors and Dickens, before returning to the starting starting point past views including quaint aged buildings and glorious nature.
This experience will inspire & uncover surprises. If you live - or have lived - on the doorstep, bring your stories too. Everyone will meet locals, passionate about Medway, and leave understanding the origins of local grit and dynamism and sharing future creative possibilities.
